TAKS – NEW GENERATION FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM

​TAKS – New Generation Fire Control System is a state of the art fire control system, specifically designed for Turkish MBT ALTAY. TAKS is developed by ASELSAN, in order to keep the MBT in battle to the maximum extent. A simple but redundant system has ben aimed. TAKS system architecture provides;

  • Minimum number of LRU's with least volume
  • Maximum survavibility
  • Minimum failure rate with minimum repair time
  • Minimum level of logistic support requirement
  • Minimum life cycle cost.

EAGLEYE provides the gunner and the commander the capability to engage threats on the move, both day and night and in adverse combat conditions like dust, smoke, fire and camouflage, with superior range performance. Passive thermal imaging provides fully convert surveillance.

High precision stabilized Line-of-Sight, which is independent from Line-of-Fire ensures high first round hit probability by providing a jitter-fire, clear thermal/visible image in practically any terrain and at high speeds. High precision eye safe Laser Range Finder, Line-of-Sight and Line-of –Fire angular digital output and digital ballistic solution represent the assurance for the high probability of hit required in combat.

Two distinct and independent periscopes managed by the gunner and commander directly control and stabilize the gun and the turret through electrical drives. With this design philosophy, in case of a failure in any of the two periscope systems, commander or gunner can switch to the functional unit to maintain the operatibility of the system.

Gunner's P​​​eriscope

Gunner's Periscope will provide the crew to search, acquire and track targets, measure the target's range in day, night and severe weather conditions while the vehicle is still or on the move. Gunner's periscope also provides the gunner a direct optical view.

Commander's Panora​​mic Periscope

Commander's Panoramic Periscope is able to rotate 360 degrees in azimuth direction. It includes the same sub-units as GP in accordance with its modular system architecture. Commander can search and engage targets independent from the gunner. It can transfer the target data to the gunner for engaging the target. While the gunner takes over, aim and shhots; commander continues to seek other targets. The CPP's automatic target tracking ability increases the MBT's survavibility on the battlefield.

Gunner/Commander Perisco​pe Electronic Unit

In accordance with the redundant system architecture, Gunner's and Commander's Persicope Electronic Units (PEU) are identical and can easily be replaced.

All the LRU's of the FCS's can be miniaturized to PCB's and can be placed in single electronic boxes with the aid of recent technologies. In addition, variant system functions such as thermal imaging, sight stabilization, gun/turret stabilization, automatic target tracking, and ballistic computations will be accomplished by running apropriate software ona standard processor.

Inertial Navigation ​​Unit

INS provides accurate acceleration, speed and location information with its inertial sensor data. Its fiber optical gyroscopes maintains its reliability in navigation without the probability of GPS fooling and spoofing. Modular structure gives its ability to be integrated on all platforms.

Sens​​ors  

In order to provide accurate fire control functions and precise ballistic calculations the following sensors are involved in the system architecture: gun position sensor, turret position sensor, meteorological sensor inclinometer, GPS/Glonass receiver.

User Inte​rface

System includes a multifunctional and simplified Control and Display Units for control and monitoring functions for gunner and commander. Easy user interface provides simplicity. Also, Control handles are specifically designed for effectiveness and simplicity to provide better handling of the FCS. Fast communication interface provides zero-lag operation.
