Applied research projects conducted in ASELSAN Research Center are focused on highly innovative research aimed at improving the state-of-the-art. In order to enhance academic collaborations focused on patents and publications a PhD Thesis Joint-Supervision Program is established with Bilkent University Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department.
In this program:

The PhD students admitted to the program will be employers of ASELSAN Research Center. For each PhD student in this program, a “Thesis Advisor” from Bilkent University Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department and an “Industrial Thesis Advisor” from ASELSAN Research Center will be assigned.

During application to Bilkent University, the candidate’s thesis topic, budget provided by ASELSAN, and advisor assigned by Bilkent University Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department will be determined jointly by ASELSAN and Bilkent University.

The Thesis Advisor and Industrial Thesis Advisor will be jointly responsible for directing the academic development of the student, as well as the thesis work.

The program is in compliance with a recent regulation of The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) published in Resmi Gazete on April 20th, 2016, regarding co-supervision of PhD theses from outside of the university faculty members.

In the course of the program, thesis work will be aligned with ongoing projects at ASELSAN Research Center and the Thesis Advisor’s expertise. Publication of research results in international journals and conferences with high-impact will be a priority in these efforts.
The signed agreement will be in effect for 10 years and will be extended as necessary.
