CLAW is a remote controlled gun system that can be adapted to a wide range of wheeled or tracked vehicles, developed jointly with FNSS.
The primary armament of the CLAW is KBA 25mm dual-feed automatic cannon manufactured by Rheinmetall Italia. The system also mounts a secondary 7.62mm co-axial machine gun. Both weapons have an elevation range of -10 to 50 degrees.
CLAW introduces improved capabilities to existing armored vehicles. The 25mm caliber with sub-caliber armor piercing fin stabilized ammunition enables anti-armor capability against similar sized infantry fighting vehicles.
The key to effective use of weapons integrated to CLAW is the ability to rapidly acquire and accurately engage targets. This is provided by the Independent Stabilized Sight System (ITSS) and the electrical gun and turret drive system. The independent sight system provides ability to fight in day and night, in all weather, and in smoke and dust with high image quality due to its independent stabilization. The embedded fire control system with automatic target tracking (ATT) provides automatic ballistic offsets in lead and super elevation for selected ammunition ballistics, target range, cross wind, temperature, and cant. The gun and turret are gyro stabilized in azimuth and elevation for accurate fire on the move.
